A Webspinner's Night Before Christmas

'Twas the night before rollout, and all through the house,
Not a keyboard was clicking, not even a mouse.
The webwonks were wrung out, too mindless to care,
Knowing chances of finishing hadn't a prayer.

The Surfers were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of webpages danced in their heads.
When out in the hallway there arose such a clatter,
That I sprang from my keyboard to see what was the matter.

And what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a super webwonker, oblivious to fear.
More rapid than eagles, his pages they came,
And he whistled and shouted and linked them by name.

On H ref! On image! On gif file so neat!
On homepage! On backpage page! On webpage complete!
His eyes were glazed over, his fingers were lean,
From weekends and nights spent in front of the screen.

A wink of his eye, and a twist of his head,
Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread.
He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,
Ideas turned to pages, then he turned with a jerk.

And laying his finger on the mouse with glee,
The website came up quickly, and worked perfectly.
New uplinks and downlinks, with old files deleted,
Going forward and backward, the web was completed.

He tested each link, he tested each file,
With nary a bad link, it brought on a smile.
The system was finished, the tests were concluded,
The user's last changes were even included!

And the user exclaimed with a smile and a taunt,
"It's just what I asked for, but it's not what I want."
