Christmas Cookies

These cookies stay fresh and soft forever and they are good with or without frosting.

Ingredients:

1 cup butter
1 8 oz pkg cream cheese
1 egg
1 1/2 cups white sugar
3 1/2 cups white all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp almond extract
1 tsp vanilla

Directions:

  1. Beat butter, cream cheese, and sugar till fluffy.
  2. Add egg, extracts, and baking powder.
  3. Add flour.
  4. Form dough into a ball and chill overnight. (This also freezes well for later use.)
  5. Roll dough and cut with cutters.
  6. Sprinkle with colored sugar if desired
  7. Bake at about 350 until they are just done on top and light brown on the bottom. Don't overbake.
  8. Frost with buttercream frosting and decorate.
You can also add food coloring to the butter, cream cheese, sugar mixture to make colored dough like red hearts for Valentine's Day.
