Christmas Crescents

You have had cookies similar to these before, usually in the shape of balls.
I believe that the unsalted butter, the unbleached flour and the amount of sugar make the difference, so I strongly suggest following the recipe exactly as is.



Ingredients:

1/2 pound unsalted butter, softened
5 tablespoons sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla
1 tablespoon water
2 cups unbleached flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups chopped pecans
Sifted confectioner's sugar

Directions:
  1. Preheat oven to 325° F.
  2. Cream butter; add sugar, vanilla and water.
  3. Sift together the flour and salt; stir into mixture until well mixed.
  4. Add pecans and mix thoroughly.
  5. Using portions the size of a walnut, roll into crescent shapes.
  6. Place on ungreased cookie sheets.
  7. Bake for approximately 15 minutes.
  8. Cool slightly.
  9. Roll in confectioner's sugar while still warm.
Makes Approximately 4 Dozen Small Cookies
