Peachy Bread Pudding

Ingredients:

2 1/4 cups milk
1/2 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
6 slices day-old bread, cut into 1-inch squares (about 2 1/2 cups)
1 (8-ounce) can sliced peaches, drained
1/2 cup raisins

Directions:
  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Lightly butter an 11x7-inch baking dish.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk the milk, sugar, eggs, vanilla, and nutmeg until well mixed.
  4. Add the bread, peaches, and raisins.
  5. Let stand 5 minutes.
  6. Transfer to the prepared baking dish.
  7. Bake until the custard is set in the center (a knife inserted into it will not necessarily come out clean), about 50 minutes.
  8. Remove the pudding from the oven and let it stand for 10 minutes.
  9. Serve warm. Or let it cool completely, cover, and refrigerate until chilled.
